Case study · Flagship winter program

RUNS XI.

Winter shouldn't mean six months off. RUNS XI is KD Cricket's junior development team — a full extra season of district-intensity cricket every winter, built on the Five Foundations.

Inside the program

An extra season, not extra nets.

Fast-tracked development in a high-level environment, surrounded by players who genuinely want to be there.

Standard

District intensity

Training and matches run at district intensity, in a district-level environment — the standard is the point.

Method

Built on the Five Foundations

Fielding sessions and indoor nets develop every player across the five foundations, all winter long.

Extras

Winter skills workshops

Extra skills workshops run throughout the season — more touchpoints, more development.

Many of the squad combine the season with individual sessions — team cricket and personal development working together.

Three winters in.

Last season

Premiers — and an Indian touring academy.

RUNS XI won the flag in WA junior winter cricket. The squad also got the rare chance to play touring academy sides from India — including the Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence.

Playing up an age group.

Back in WA junior winter cricket — an U15s-age squad competing in the U17s competition. Development through challenge, against keen cricketers from across Perth.

Coming up

T20 under lights.

A T20 played under lights is on the calendar, plus extra senior T20 games through the club — new formats, new scenarios, real pressure.

Players from eight districts have pulled on the shirt. A team only has so many spots — if next winter sounds right, get in early.
